Caltex Australia (ASX: CTX) appointed Reputation Edge to lead the
stakeholder engagement stream for its Kurnell refinery review. The review decided to close the refinery, with the loss of 600 jobs.
Embedded within the Caltex project team over 6 months, Reputation Edge coordinated internal resources for the development of key messaging and strategies for stakeholder groups including staff, investors, state, local and federal governments, media and the general public. In parallel with the Refinery Review project, Reputation Edge also developed the repositioning framework for Caltex after the announcement.
The project was a textbook case study in clearly communicating the reasons behind a major decision whilst preserving corporate reputation with key stakeholders including government, investors, staff, and suppliers.
